Torn paper polymer clay necklace

A hand made polymer clay necklace pendant made using a torn paper technique.  The rich red coppery main 'paper' surface was originally created using a mica shift technique where the metallic particles were manipulated into a pattern within the colour of the clay itself.   The surface glitters with tiny metallic particles.

This layer was then very thinly bonded with a light and dark layer and then torn into scraps that were applied papier maché style onto the surface of the pendant.   After curing it was very lightly sanded smooth and the edges rounded for comfort in wear and several layers of gloss acrylic sealant added to protect the surface.

The pendant is simply hung from a tube mount glued on the reverse - please see [+] More Images for a photograph of the reverse.

The pendant is hung from a rubber thong necklace with a silver plated ring bolt clasp and a length of open silver plated curb chain to allow the length to be adjusted.  The end of the chain is finished with a little dangle of matching Japanese Toho seed beads.

The necklace can be adjusted from 440mm (17½") to 490mm (19") and the pendant measures 36mm (1.4") x 62mm (2½").
